Camp F.L.O., Future Leaders of New Orleans

Adventure outside. Growth inside.

Camp F.L.O. gives middle school students in grades 5 to 8 an unforgettable experience of learning, growth and transformation. Kids who have struggled with conflict or behavior at school find a safe place to discover who they can be.

What campers do.

Outdoor adventures
Kayaking, hiking, camping and canoeing. New ground, real challenge, and adults beside them the whole way.
Reading circles
A structured literacy program built on reading comprehension and vocabulary. Stories chosen for the kids in the room.
Emotional regulation and conflict resolution
A project-based social and emotional learning curriculum, informed by behavioral data, so skills get practiced and not just discussed.
Trust and teamwork
Young people learn best through action and experience. Every day is built so they have to rely on each other.

Who it is for.

Middle school students in New Orleans, grades 5 to 8, who have been disproportionately affected by school discipline: classroom removals, suspensions, or contact with the juvenile system. The goal is a safer, more peaceful city, one kid at a time.

Our partner school is Success at Thurgood Marshall Charter School. Sessions run twelve weeks, with adventure days through the year.

Families: register online.

Upcoming adventure days, pricing, scholarships and registration all live on the Camp F.L.O. site. Pick a date, register your child and pay in a few minutes.
